Reviews about Lord & Taylor
- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆February 09, 2020, by Josh KingMy girlfriend had an experience here after her previous negative experience and I'm posting it here for her: I tried giving this place one last chance in July. Barney in the women's shoe department was literally harassing me like crazy trying to sell me a pair of shoes that I had on my feet for literally 5 seconds. His selling tactics were worse than a car salesmen. Seriously he was on top of me and my friend non stop and refused to back off. Then he was trying to not only sell me shoes but the credit card. I am a college student who works part time and like most, don't have the best credit score due to taking out student loans. I explained this to Barney hoping he would get the hint to back off because I didn't have a good enough credit score nor was I interested in it. He kept going on and on about how everyone gets approved there and even "people on welfare" get approved. This man made me so socially anxious that I felt completely trapped. I finally purchased the shoes to shut him up because I genuinely did like them although I barely got a chance to walk around in them. Then he kept going on about the credit card no matter how many times I said no. I just didn't know what to do by that point because I've never had a sales associate harassing me to get a store credit card because no means no to most people. Stupidly I agreed to apply for a credit card and when I entered my income as 18,000 a year he literally said "Let's make it more impressive looking" and entered in himself 25,000. That really disgusted me. That is him lying about my income which is illegal and can get ME IN ALOT OF TROUBLE just because he wanted his figures to look good. When the computer finally said (I was back behind the register with him per his request) that they would have to contact me later about it I think he finally knew there was no chance he could get the sales point for signing me up and FINALLY LAID OFF OF ME. That was a huge learning experience for me. I suffer from social anxiety and this man completely took advantage of that even after my NUMEROUS no's and saying I don't have a good credit score and I'm not interested thank you. I now know to just physically walk out of any store should anything like this ever happen again. I ended up returning the shoes as well a few weeks later because they were way too pinchy around my toes which I finally was able to conclude when I got A CHANCE to walk around with them at home. I'm completely done shopping at Lord and Taylor at this location. The employees are in my opinion horrible this is only one of several terrible experiences I've had with these people. If you wish to be respected as a person and not be seen as just a sales figure stay away.
